Are you tired of the “Real Housewives” franchise that offers scandals and catfight among the rich and famous housewives? Want to watch something more sensible and touching? Watch of for the new Showtime original series ‘The Big C’ that premieres on DISH Network premium movie channel Showtime tonight at 10.30 PM ET/PT! Through a scripted drama, the series is sure to touch the lives of women who are tired of being “the sensible one”!
The new Showtime original series ‘The Big C’ revolves around Cathy Jamison, a reserved, quiet, Minneapolis schoolteacher who receives life changing news and decides to make drastic and long-overdue mending to her life from that moment onwards. The role of Cathy is played by acclaimed actress Laura Linney in the satellite TV series.
Cathy has always been the perfect suburban wife and mother – she is conservative as well as structured. But when she receives a terminal cancer diagnosis it not only becomes a challenge, but also a catalyst for change to her. Cathy, tired of being “the sensible one” decides to let her ‘freak flag’ fly high. And in order to do that, for the first time in her life, she makes choices that will suit her needs rather than anyone else’s. Who said you can’t eat dessert as an appetizer? Time is valuable, and Cathy wants to grabbing life with open arms.
Cathy wants to decide whether she will reveal her diagnosis to and declares it’s now her turn to act up! She confronts her immature husband, faces her spoiled son and deals with her selectively homeless and outspoken brother. She also forms unusual bonds with unexpected people like her grouchy neighbor Marlene as well as her saucy student Andrea. Hey, did I mention that the role of Andrea is played by none other that Academy nominated actress of this year – Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe! Now that is what is known as living life to the fullest. Now that is going to be a great show where we can see both Laura Linney and Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe sharing the screen!
