“Stand Up to Cancer” telethon is one of the most popular fund raising TV events that support cancer awareness and research. The 2008 telecast of the fundraising event helped rise over $100 million in funds and the event was seen in over 170 countries.

Over $83 million of the total raised money is so far given to five “dream teams” of researchers and to 13 scientists working against cancer. But that is just one part of the fundraising event.
