You can watch all kinds of program on Dish Network. However, some of these programs may not be quite appropriate for children. So as a parent you must be worrying about your kids catching the hold of the programs that are not meant for them. With the Dish Network parental control system you can now control and restrict the TV viewing of the young ones. You can protect selective program or even an entire channel with password. You can also lock the programs based on the rating available with the Motion Picture Association of America.

To protect the programs with parental control lock, you need to follow a few easy steps:

Step 1 : You have to switch your television on at first. Then you have to press the Menu button on the remote. If the receiver is password protected then you may need to enter the password which set at the time of locking the satellite TV receiver. If you have forgotten the password, you need to call customer service for password reset.

Step 2 : A number of channel lock options will be available on the menu. From this you need to select the correct lock.

Step 3 : After you select the lock a list of all channels will appear on screen. The channels will appear with a small box next to it. These are the option boxes relating to the channels that are placed beside them. You need to check-mark the boxes to select a channel for locking. If you wish to unlock a channel simply unmark the check-mark and you will get the channels on your main menu.

Following these three steps you can lock these dish TV channels. Your kids will not be able to view the channels unless they access the Electronic Program guide. You can also hide the channels from the electronic program guide.
