How To Protect Your DISH Network DVR Recordings?

Can’t find the NBA 2011 finals game that you recorded in your DVR? Well, it might have got deleted. What? Generally a DVR recording is deleted by a user, but the hard drive can also be automatically managed depending on available storage space as well as copy protection standards.

So, if you are not getting your recorded content on DISH Network DVR, there can be 3 possibilities:

Any other user have deleted the recording
Recording automatically got deleted to accommodate new recording due to lack of storage space
Recording got deleted due to copy protection

1. Prevent Users From Deleting Recordings

Set locks on the DVR to prevent recorded events from being deleted.

To protect a recording, select Protect on the information screen for that recording.

2. Not Enough Storage Space

If your DVR runs out of storage space, existing recordings will be deleted to make room for new recordings. Only recordings that are not protected are deleted.

3. Deleted By Copy Protection

Copy Protection rules allow only one copy of a recording to exist. If you have moved a recording to another storage device, such as an external hard drive, the original recording will be deleted from your DVR.
