What’s the latest buzz from the TV entertainment? It’s Conan O’Brien. The comedy icon is all set to join TBS for hosting a late-night show this November. It comes as great news to all the viewers who love comedy and love Conan. The show will be aired on TBS channel on DISH Network.
At the first glance, TBS seems to be an odd choice for Conan, isn’t it? Being the kind of talented comedian he is – he might very well land up in Fox or even in FX. It would have been a more high profile perch for him to compete with his rival late night shows like ‘Tonight Show’. It can also be mentioned that Kevin Eubanks has announced his departure from ‘Tonight Show’ on NBC.
Ok, so Conan is in TBS. But wasn’t there another late night show? Oh, yes! It is ‘Lopez Tonight’. This show will be bumped back to midnight ET to make way for Conan’s 11 p.m. ET Show. George Lopez, the host of ‘Lopez Tonight’ is very excited about the show. “I can’t think of anything better than doing my show with Conan as my lead-in,” he said.
With two such shows on air, TBS is looking forward to create a very funny brand image. O’Brien and Lopez will give TBS a dynamic lineup in late-night television. TBS has built a programming schedule which appeals to a young, diverse audience. The channel expects O’Brien to be a long-term addition to its late-night landscape. Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, said “Conan has been the comedic voice for a generation. TBS already has a huge audience of young comedy lovers, and Conan’s show will give these fans even more reasons to watch our network.”
O’Brien is currently touring across the United States and Canada with his popular live show, ‘Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour’. You can catch him on DISH TV this November on TBS and the show has all the elements of becoming a huge hit. Gorge Lopez has aptly said, “It’s the beginning of a new era in late-night comedy.”
Do you like Conan O’Brien? Are you looking forward to the TBS show? Keep us posted.
