With this experiment, Google, the pioneering name in online search is looking forward to expand its reach to television, which is the main screen media present in most households of the nation. The inclusion of television as a mode of search adds another feather in the crown of the internet search giant.

When successfully incorporated the Google search facility of set top boxes will become a great source of revenue for the internet giant. When people will search for specific TV programs and video content via the internet on these boxes they will come across Google keywords and display ads from Google. This is sure to give the search and advertising companies a whole new platform to reach the consumers and know their preferences.

At present Dish Network has over 14 million customers across the nation and the number is increasing at a rapid rate. So, by enabling Google search feature on Dish Network Set top boxes the global leader in internet search can reach millions of customers at the time when they are not on their computer.

The search function of most top boxes of most satellite TV and cable TV provider are not up to the mark at present. Let alone searching online for video or torrent available online, most set top boxes cannot even offer a comprehensive search for the programming available with the satellite TV provider. Thus Google can help them improve the situation in a way through which it helps the major labels with online music videos.

Other than showcasing video contents from YouTube and a host of other video websites along with satellite TV programs the set top boxes will run Google Android Operating system. This operating system is also found in the Google phone. Just like the applications designed for iPhones work with iPad, the applications designed for Google android phones will suit the Google search enabled set top boxes from Dish Network and other satellite TV providers.

As a pioneering name in the satellite TV industry of the nation, Dish Network has always tried to engage itself in some of the industry advancing partnership. In the recent past they have included interactive TV multi-player gaming feature on satellite TV and joined hands with Neulion to provide the viewers with IPTV services. Dish Network also partnered with Rentrak Corporation to assess their set-top box data with the advanced media measurement tool of the later for the benefit of the TV and advertisement industry. The recent collaboration of the satellite TV provider with Google is also going to result into an industry-advancing decision.

In earlier months Dish Network has introduced TV Everywhere, a range of products that helps you watch your satellite TV programming on Laptop via internet or Wi-Fi connectivity. It has become the latest craze among the TV loving people. With the Google search enabled set top box at home, people can now enjoy just the opposite thing, enjoying internet facility on TV.
