Stan, the chief protagonist finds out that making friends, poking and interacting on Facebook is not an option and tries to revolt against the virtual entity of Facebook. In this episode ‘You Have 0 Friends‘ a robotic webcam denied the request of Stan Marsh to delete his Facebook account and digitizes Stan into a Tron. Now the Tron has to fight for life to stay connected to his friends on the web.
Gradually Stan finds out that not being on Facebook can doom his life. But he stands against the sinister alter ego of Facebook only find out that ignoring his Facebook page can have a negative impact in his real life. His real life friends and family acts hostilely towards Stan as he revolts against updating his status, playing Farmville and even poking his family members. Stan even faced a male stranger in his car who spitted on Stan’s face for not accepting his friend request.
The episode is aptly named ‘You Have 0 Friends’ also has a nice ending. It is true that Facebook has become a hard to ignore virtual entity nowadays and ignoring it can have a direct backlash in your real life.
